Goldback Notes were introduced in response to the passage of a state-level act in Utah in 2011. That year, the state passed the Utah Legal Tender Act. It set guidelines for the use of acceptable forms of gold in everyday transactions. Americans haven’t had real-world purchasing power on an everyday basis with gold since 1933 when gold coins were collected by the Fed and melted down.
Today, there are two series of Goldback Notes in production, one for Utah and the other for Nevada. Each one offers 1, 5, 10, 25, and 50 Notes with distinctive designs across each weight and each series. These notes are voluntary, local currency, and not US legal tender. This means the notes can be used to make purchases, but only at vendors that opt to accept the notes in those particular states.
The obverse and reverse of 25 Gold Goldback Notes come with separate designs in the aforementioned series. The Utah Goldback features Victory marching along in the dress of a suffragette with a young child on a tricycle riding at her side. Victory marches along with the US flag in her hands. For the Nevada Goldback, a depiction of the female allegory associated with courage is shown. She has brilliant wings on her back and trumpets a large horn as she carries a fern branch in one hand.
These 25 Gold Goldback Notes are available to purchase in varied conditions. While some notes may remain in brand-new condition, others may showcase some signs of wear and tear or have minor production flaws present. Each one comes with its original currency sleeve or a generic plastic sleeve to ensure its continued protection.
