President George Washington was just the second former president ever featured on American coins when his effigy was added to the US Quarter in 1932. Congress had considered several means of honoring the nation’s first president on currency in 1932, eventually deciding to put him on the US Quarter. To this day, President Washington remains a fixture on the quarter-dollar coin. Today, 90% Silver Washington Quarters are available to you online at Silver.com in $500 face value lots.

90% Silver Washington Quarters were introduced in 1932 by the United States Mint. Congress was seeking a way to honor Washington on the 200th anniversary of his birthday in 1932 and some had suggested putting his image on the US Half Dollar for one year in place of the Walking Liberty design. Given the suspension of the Standing Liberty Quarter in 1930, Congress opted to place Washington the US Quarter permanently.
All of the 90% Silver Washington Quarters in this product listing are available to you from date marks ranging from 1932 to 1964, the end of 90% silver coining in the US. The bag includes a total of 2,000 individual US Quarters for a total value of $500 (USD). The individual silver coins available here have 90% silver and 10% copper. The date marks available to you in this bag will vary.
On the obverse of 90% Silver Washington Quarters, you will find the left-profile portrait of President George Washington. Designed by John Flanagan, the bust of Washington featured here was inspired by a 1786 bust sculpted of Washington.
The reverse side of 90% Silver Washington Quarters includes a twist on the heraldic eagle of the United States. This particular design features no heraldic shield, but it does include arrows and an olive branch. The American bald eagle shown here is front-facing with its head looking to the left. The bird clutches a sheaf of arrows in its talons with an olive branch included below.
The United States Mint produced 90% Silver Washington Quarters at the Philadelphia Mint, Denver Mint, San Francisco Mint, and West Point Mint. The coins have “D,” “S,” and “W” mint marks on the reverse field below the intersection of the olive branches at the bottom of the design field. The Philadelphia Mint coins have no mint mark.
