During the Battle of the Alamo, some 280+ Texian soldiers faced off against roughly 1,500 Mexican Army regulars. The Texians fought bravely against the Mexican Army, withstanding a 13-day siege and fighting to the last man even as the Mexican Army breached the walls of the mission.
In the closing hours of the Battle of the Alamo, brave Texians wielded whatever weapons possible to inflict a heavy price on the Mexican Army as it took control of the Alamo. The Mexican Army’s treatment of the survivors spurred more Texians to join the Revolution and even resulted in Americans volunteering to join the Texian Forces. Just over a month after its loss at the Alamo, the Texians would handily defeat the Mexican Army at the Battle of San Jacinto and win freedom for the region.
