America the Beautiful Series Background
Each release is a 5 oz coin made from .999 pure silver. Coins were created in both BU and burnished strikes as the series ran from 2010 to 2021.
The obverse of each coin shows the effigy of George Washington. The portrait was refined in 1932 by John Flanagan.
The designs for this 56-coin collection were chosen via a collaborative effort between the US Mint, the Secretary of the Interior, the Secretary of the Treasury, and the chief executive of each jurisdiction.
